The Perfect Grilled Cheese Sandwich

 

Grilled cheese sandwiches are a classic comfort food that is perfect for a quick and easy meal. They are also a great way to use up leftover bread.

  1. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Sprinkle salt and pepper on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Place the other slice of bread, butter-side up, on top.
  5. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, use cheddar cheese instead of American cheese.
  • To make the grilled cheese ahead of time, cook it and then let it cool completely. Wrap the sandwich in foil and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. When ready to serve, reheat the sandwich in a skillet or toaster oven.
  • For a vegetarian grilled cheese, use vegan cheese.
